Wishing everyone a joyful and prosperous year ahead!! I wanted to start the year discussing some essentials to bring to your photoshoot so you are prepared and achieve the creative vision within you. Too many times have I forgotten to bring this or that and found that better preparation always makes for a better photoshoot. To all the creatives out there hope this helps!

Check Your Mood Board.
Before your photoshoot, photographers will go over some ideas with you and share some images to guide the both of you during this process. Its important to view the mood board and cross reference it with your wardrobe, hairstyle and accessories to best achieve that creative vision.

2. Clothes
After coordinating with your photographer. See what outfits are needed to achieve that look. Make sure to bring dress, pants, pantsuit, jackets, fabrics or whatever clothing is needed. Also bring a coat if the weather is colder and light jacket in case its warmer. Temperature changes and you want to stay prepared. Stay away from clothing with logos, graphics or words. Always coordinate send pictures to photographers so your both on the same page with materials before your shoot day.

3. Shoes.
Its the models responsibility to bring shoes that fit her photoshoot. If this is a fitness photoshoot tennis shoes may be required or athletic shoe. If your attending fashion photoshoots the type of shoe may vary from high heels, to low heels, to boots but ultimately the model should be comfortable as well. Swimming photoshoots typically don't need specific shoes but its always a good idea to bring water shoes or slippers for your own comfort due to the rocks or seashells on the beach.

4. Undergarments, Fashion Tape, and Pasties
Check the type of photoshoot you have and match the proper undergarments. Most fashion photoshoots nude undergarments goes a long way. It is super necessary to bring some fashion tape and pasties as well. Wardrobe malfunctions happen more often than we think. Since we cant stop them its best to prevent them from the beginning! Fashion tape will hold the dress in place as well as keep everything in its right position. While, the pasties will prevent any unnecessary slips from occurring. Protecting our peace while we create!

5. Hair Products: Hair gel, Hair spray, Hair ties, Bobby pins etc.
Although some photoshoots have there own hair stylists at times. Its always good to be prepared in case there is none. Some stylists cancel or no show last minute and preparation is key.

6. Jewelry
Fashion accessories including: long earrings, studs, necklaces, bracelets, rings etc. Most photographer have a collection of props they would like to use but its always good to discuss before the photoshoot in case you have some that could add to the creative vision.

7. Business Cards
Keep your business card, comp card and portfolio in your model bag at all times, When designers, photographers, news media or other creatives want to connect or asks for your information, you are prepared and ready.

8. Snacks, Bottles Of Water And Lots Of Rest
Please stay hydrated. There is nothing worse than trying to do a photoshoot when your hungry, thirsty or tired. Get lots of rest the day before and come to the shoot prepared and ready. Packing some snacks and water in your model bag ensures your preparation and well being. Health is wealth.

9. Manicure And Pedicure
This is a given but thought I would reiterate just how important this is. The camera catches everything so please ensure to have a simple manicure and pedicure. Doesn't have to be anything fancy but well groomed nails always help you when its time to view your images.

10. A Positive Attitude
Kindness goes a long way and so does mutual respect for one another. Don't be aggressive, bossy, demanding or rude because the photographer took time to work with you. Theres always a way to speak to one another even in a disagreement. You never know what doors will open for you with each new person you work with. Teamwork makes the dreamwork always.
